Kyra graduated with a bachelor's degree in Sociology from UCLA and a master’s degree in Social Work with a concentration in Mental Health from USC. She began her career in 2014 as a social worker; assisting individuals with co-morbid challenges, including mental, physical and substance use issues. For the past eight years, she has provided both psychotherapy and case management services to underserved communities within Los Angeles County. Throughout her work as a social worker, she realized that she had a great passion for helping individuals with developmental challenges, and she went on to open her first Adult Residential Facility in 2016, supporting Regional Center service individuals with housing and other supportive service.
Since then, she has branched into dedicating her time as a certified Person-Centered Thinking (PCT) trainer to both professionals and families. She also focuses much of her time to the Self-Determination Program by working as an Independent Facilitator for eligible individuals.

Advanced Pragmatics Social groups are designed for neurodivergent kids, teens, and young adults with low support needs autism and other social challenges who want to develop their social communication, independence, and confidence further. This Fall, starting the second week in September, we will offer social groups for preschool, elementary, middle school, high school, and young adults. Social groups will run for 14 weeks, from September to December, and meet weekly for 45 minutes. The Preschool Group is for kids ages 3-5 and will focus on building language, play and social skills through songs, stories, crafts, and games. The elementary group will focus on building relationships, conversational skills, play skills, self-advocacy, executive functioning, and non-verbal communication, while the middle school and high school group will focus on similar areas as well as how to handle bullying and teasing. The Young Adult group focuses on life skills and social communication, including dating, interview skills, and building independence. All groups will use lessons from the PEERS program, the only evidence-based social skills curriculum that helps motivated kids and teens learn how to make and keep friends. Taught by a licensed and PEERS-certified speech-language pathologist with over 15 years of experience, clients will receive expert social skills training in a highly functional environment.

The COMPASS social skills group is our flagship program which started as Dr. Erika Rich’s doctoral dissertation and has grown into a program recognized by professional and families in the Los Angeles area as the gold standard in social skills groups for children. Compass Clinic typically has between 18 and 22 social skills group running concurrently and continuously throughout the year, in addition to our social skills camp, Friendship Island. We have a 3:1 child to therapist ratio in our groups, ensuring that no interaction goes unnoticed.
