Our practice style can best be described as functional and integrative medicine. While these terms mean different things to different people, functional medicine as listed on this website pertains to identifying and treating abnormalities that lead to impaired functioning of cells, such as problems with mitochondria (the parts of cells that create energy), oxidative stress (damage to cells caused by a lack of antioxidants and/or exposure to environmental toxicants), metabolism (the biochemical pathways that occur inside cells) and inflammation (swelling and abnormal immune responses that adversely affect cellular functioning and the communication between cells).

LBUSD. William F. Prisk Elementry School offers a specialized special education program called S.U.C.S.E.S.S. It focuses on supporting a student's functional skills in multiple domains.
The program integrates supports for behavior, communication, and social interactions with a functional, alternative curriculum in a highly structured small class (8 to 10 students) within a 2:1 student to adult ratio. Staff have expertise and training in the areas of Applied Behavior Anaylsis (ABA) and utilize evidence-based supports for students with autism, communication, and behavioral needs.
The program includes a multidisciplinary approach where classroom staff recieve once monthly collaboration with an adapted physical education (APE) teacher and once weekly collaboration with an occupational therapist (OT) to provide universal strategies for global ongoing development of students. Additionally, monthly behavior collaboration to guide staff in implementing evidence-based practices that address student behavior and ensuring consistent application of behavior strategies to support the development of functional skills and independence within the educational environment.
This program includes SLP twice every week that incorporates a 'Best Buddy' Social Program where the student is paired with a general ed student (5th graders) to foster appropriate play and social skills.

Kyra graduated with a bachelor's degree in Sociology from UCLA and a master’s degree in Social Work with a concentration in Mental Health from USC. She began her career in 2014 as a social worker; assisting individuals with co-morbid challenges, including mental, physical and substance use issues. For the past eight years, she has provided both psychotherapy and case management services to underserved communities within Los Angeles County. Throughout her work as a social worker, she realized that she had a great passion for helping individuals with developmental challenges, and she went on to open her first Adult Residential Facility in 2016, supporting Regional Center service individuals with housing and other supportive service.
Since then, she has branched into dedicating her time as a certified Person-Centered Thinking (PCT) trainer to both professionals and families. She also focuses much of her time to the Self-Determination Program by working as an Independent Facilitator for eligible individuals.
